How to describe a job clearly

A useful job description explains the outcome, present condition, location, timing and any known access constraints.

  1. Start with the outcomeSay what should be repaired, installed, replaced or assessed.
  2. Add useful contextInclude approximate sizes, materials, symptoms and what has already been tried.
  3. Explain access and timingMention parking, stairs, restricted hours, urgency and when someone can provide access.

Do not publish alarm codes, keys, a full address or other private security information in the public description.
